‘We Are All Individuals 2’ by Jonathan Sainsbury
56 x 76cm, mixed media, unframed
I have been painting nature all my working life I try to portray it’s beauty and complexity especially in the way we relate and care for our wild creatures and their landscapes. This picture is the second in a series inspired by a Starling that lives in the kitchen he was found as a pink featherless nestling lying on the grass we rescued him and fed him by hand until he matured as he grew and opened his eyes he saw us so is now convinced he is a human. This made me ask questions about all the other starlings that experience their individual journeys into adulthood. They may look the same behave the same but they are not clones and all their life experiences are different hence in the picture each bird is portrayed in a different medium.
