‘Nature’s Still Blooming’ by Shona Dougall
17inches x 23inches, oil pastel on watercolour paper
Artist Statement: Although trained in mainly Oil at art school my recent works have been in Acrylic or mixed media. I also love the directness of pastel pencils and particularly oil pastel pencils for their vibrant colour. My interests are wide I enjoy portraiture, landscape, trees and plants and I love still life. Lockdown seems to emphasise the importance of nature and whereas other parts of our lives are on hold including being unable to see many of our relatives or offspring the flowers bloom unrestricted and inevitably. I’m grateful for that uplifting experience in these dire times.
