‘I Can Dream, I can Fly’ by Sandra Ratcliffe

I am an artist living in South Ayrshire. Born on Bute, my works are inspired by the light and ever changing climate throughout all seasons of the islands and the West Coast of Scotland.
I studied as a part time student over three years at Glasgow School of Art, and have been painting for 20 years.

I have held several solo exhibitions, in Scotland and overseas in Europe (Spain) and the United Arab Emirates. I have also exhibited successfully in many Scottish group exhibitions, as well as Paisley Art Institute (I have just been accepted into their first on-line exhibition this summer)and regularly at The Maclaurin Gallery in Ayr.
I paint in an expressionist style, my interpretation in shape and colour of the scene in front of me.
Thoughts Are Free is an inspirational theme, as while being in lockdown, en plein air painting in my favourite coastal places has been largely impossible. It has been necessary to allow our visual imaginings to wander into dreamlike spaces, filled with colour and movement.
