David M Martin RSW RGI

My paintings are derived mainly from Landscape and Still-Life. I react mainly to the abstract qualities and surface patterns I see around me. I prefer to work from drawings and then follows a distillation process where I decide on the approach to a particular piece. What results is a painting based on what is seen but becomes an equivalent of the visual image.

Studied Glasgow School of Art and had a successful teaching career ending in 1983 as principle of Hamilton Grammar School where I retired in order to paint full time. Since 1948 have exhibited regularly at the major Scottish Exhibitions and in London, New York and abroad.
