An exhibition of work by Glasgow Kelvin College students and lecturers.
Tuesday 17 May - Saturday 21 May 2022
Preview: 14th May 2022
Orson Welles once commented, “The enemy of art is the absence of limitations”. The past two years have been incredibly challenging for the education sector. Many students’ college and university experience has been completely different to anything they could have imagined, in some cases not even being able to sit in a physical classroom with their lecturers and peers. Educators too have had to quickly adapt and find ways to inspire their students and keep themselves positive. Like a flower breaking through concrete, art finds a way. Often, limitations and restrictions, force the artist to look a little deeper and consider new ways of working. The Enemy of Art is an exhibition of work by students and lecturers of the HND art and photography courses at Glasgow Kelvin College. Much of the work has been born out of limitations and is a celebration of creativity and resilience. The exhibition will also see the introduction of the “RGI Glasgow Kelvin” fine art prize aimed to recognise exceptional work produced by final year students.
