152nd ANNUAL EXHIBITION OPENS AT THE McLELLAN GALLERIES

Some FIFTEEN HUNDRED visitors and more filed through the just-opened portals of the McLELLAN GALLERIES at the weekend along the red carpet and up the magnificent marble stairway to view Scotland’s largest Open Annual Exhibition.

 Over FIVE HUNDRED artworks selected from around 2,000 submissions are now on display in the suite of purpose-built galleries.

 This includes the work of the following prize-winners:

 The Exhibition was formally opened on Saturday 9 November by the broadcaster and writer, KIRSTY WARK, who echoed the mood of the assembled enthusiasts:

“Glasgow people love art – and they love the places for art. We cannot lose the McLellan Galleries – they are part of the city and the country’s heritage and should be part of our future.”

 The RGI is investing £100,000 to undertake these works as part of the campaign for the regeneration of this prestigious building;  to promote its return to active service for Glasgow’s citizens and visitors, with a viable and sustainable future.

The RGI’s 152nd Annual Exhibition runs until Sunday 8 December,

open daily (except Monday) from 10 am until 6 pm,

on Sunday from 12 tlll 6 and on Thursdays until 7.30 pm

at the McLellan Galleries, 270 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow.
