If you do one thing this week…………………
If you haven’t had an opportunity to view Mhairi Malcolm’s first solo exhibition, The Day Above, at the Kelly Gallery, then there is still time to pop in before the show closes this Saturday afternoon 3 November.
The exhibition is the culmination of the Glasgow based artist winning The Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts Exhibition award at our 2011 Annual Show. As well as a cash prize of £500, the award includes the opportunity of having a solo show at the Kelly Gallery. It’s a prize that reflects our commitment to supporting artists by showcasing their work.
Says Mhairi, who studied at Gray’s School of Art: “A lot of my work is inspired by journeys, and features remnants of the landscape, gathered and abstracted from the materials that I’ve come across on a journey.
“It is a fantastic opportunity to exhibit at the Kelly Gallery, and for this exhibition I’ve produced a body work featuring journeys which centre on the city of Glasgow itself.”
The Day Above runs until 3pm this Saturday.
