The First Receiving Day

Deluge sums up the first Receiving Day of the RGI’s 151st Annual Show – in terms of rain and the number of artists who braved the weather to submit their works at The Mitchell on Wednesday 23 August.

Recent GSA graduate, Yaun Zhang, travelled up from London to submit her work ‘The Full Moon Rise and the Dumpling Sky’. Yaun was one of this year’s RGI Graduate Prize Award winners, and about to start her MFA studies at Chelsea College.

One of the special deliveries of the day was particularly rain soaked, a sculpture which until this morning, graced the garden of the late and much loved artist and RGI, George Wyllie.

If you’ve yet to submit to the Annual, RGI Secretary Lesley Nichol and Kelly Gallery Curator Lynne Mackenzie will be back in the main gallery of The Mitchell, tomorrow between 9am and 7pm for the for the final Receiving Day.
