New prize for artists

We’re delighted to announce that Lyon & Turnbull, Scotland’s oldest auction house, is generously donating a new £1000 prize to be awarded at our 151st Open Annual Exhibition which runs from 16 September to 6 October.

The Lyon & Turnbull Prize joins the prestigious roll call of prizes awarded annually at the show, bringing the number up to a total of 21, thanks to the loyalty and generosity of the companies, organizations and individuals who annually sponsor prizes.

The substantial and varied number of prizes should prove a great encouragement for both established artists and new graduates to submit their artwork to the show.

Campbell Armour, a director at Lyon & Turnbull said: “We already enjoy a close relationship with the RGI and this award further strengthens this bond. We are also keen to be associated with such a prestigious exhibition which showcases the cream of British artists.

“Our contemporary art sales often feature the work of RGIs, particularly early paintings. We wanted to make this £1000 annual cash prize as wide and open as possible and look forward to coming along to view this year’s show.”
