We were saddened to hear of the death of one of our longstanding RGIs, the extravagantly talented George Wyllie. To meet George was like encountering one of his sculptures – life enhancing, unforgettable, and something that made you smile and feel warm inside. Our thoughts are with George’s family at this time.
Paying tribute to George, RGI President Karin Currie said: “George was special. I called him the ‘iconoclartist’ – which he liked! He was so irreverential of art forms and yet embraced so many with his unique humour and irrepressible passion. He was fearless. Outrageous. Generous and considerate. No-one will forget George.”
